Na Kolea Transitional Housing

The Na Kolea Transitional Housing program was established to go hand in hand with the on-going alcohol and drug treatment services that The Salvation Army Addiction Treatment Services (ATS) provides.

Individuals are housed in the community while participating in outpatient programming, seeking employment and eventually transitioning back into the community.

ATS' Na Kolea Transitional Housing Program provides the following specific services:

  • Basic Case Management (legal, financial, medical).
  • General skills building classes - leisure activities, time management, budget and savings, and developing support networks.
  • Housing placement.
  • Assistance with vocational support and encouragement to secure employment.

Transitional Housing Program

The Salvation Army Addiction Treatment Services (ATS) works with the Na Kolea facility which includes eight studio units located at 1020 Isenberg Street (two blocks from University Avenue in Moiliili).

The larger facility, managed by Housing Solutions, Inc. (HSI), is a three-story complex comprised of 75 transitional living units for qualified homeless individuals.

The ATS staff of the HUD program consists of a full-time Resident Associate Manager and a full-time Case Manager. Their ongoing involvement includes on-site weekly individual and group counseling sessions and monitoring for compliance to rules and structure of the facility.

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)

Developed through the City and County of Honolulu to assist criminal offenders back into the community, the goal of the HUD program is to end chronic homelessness. HUD’s mission is to improve the quality of life for the homeless individual by encouraging and supporting employment and permanent residency.
