Family Services Office
The Salvation Army Family Services Office
296 N. Vineyard Blvd, Honolulu, HI
We meet the emergency material and financial needs of the people of Oahu. Below are some of the services we offer.
Food & Clothes
Emergency food bags are provided to families and individuals who live in Honolulu and surrounding communities. Food bags last approximately three days.
The Salvation Army partners with the Hawaii Food Bank, Aloha Harvest, and local food distributors to help meet the needs of vulnerable persons experiencing food insecurity. Families, the kupuna, and homeless individuals are referred to local feeding programs when in need of prepared foods. We also offer gift certificates when available.
Clothing vouchers, for use at any Salvation Army Thrift Store, are also available. These can be used to purchase clothes for work, school, or for a change of clothes if you are homeless with no other resources.
Clothing vouchers are issued on Tuesdays. Beneficiaries are required to present an ID and a referral from a doctor or a social services provider. A household is eligible to receive this assistance once every six months. The voucher is only good at the Nimitz thrift store.
Financial assistance can be provided for rent and utilities assistance. Applicants must be able to show that an emergency exists, and that they have done all they can to resolve the problem on their own.
Budget and Nutritional Counseling
Budgeting Class: The “Hana Pono‘i – Striving Towards Self-Sufficiency” seminar is a must for all people who are in need of basic nutrition information as well as optional, one-on-one budgeting reviews. Budgeting strategies, menu planning, and goal setting are some of the many topics covered in this simple, but useful three-hour course. Sessions are held at least twice a week.
